DO YOU NEED HELP WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO DRIVING LEGALLY? Project GreenLight may be able to help you with one or more of the following expenses:

  • Car registration fees
  • License plate renewal fees
  • Car insurance (including SR-22 insurance)
  • Driver’s license renewals and replacements
  • Vehicle inspection fees
  • Minor car repairs needed to pass inspection
  • Driver's license reinstatements

Program Criteria

  • No DUI or reckless driving charges or convictions
  • Current resident of Jackson or Wyandotte County
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Vehicle purchase price of $10,000 or less 
  • Vehicle owned for more than 60 days
  • Enrolled in a government assistance program or qualify based on these income guidelines:

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • Proof of residency (utility bill, lease, mortgage statement)
  • Proof of income for the last 30 days (pay stubs, tax forms, bank statements) and/or
  • Proof of government program enrollment (award letter or other official documentation from a state agency indicating program participation)

  • You do NOT have a DUI or reckless driving charge on your driving record. 
  • You currently live in Jackson County, Missouri OR Wyandotte County, Kansas. 
  • You are currently enrolled in a government assistance program or qualify based on these income guidelines:

IF YOU MEET THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS, PROJECT GREENLIGHT MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU WITH ONE OR MORE OF THESE EXPENSES:

  • Car registration fees IF: 
  • License plate renewal fees

  • Fee for an SR-22
  • Driver’s license renewals and replacements
  • Vehicle inspection fee
  • Minor car repairs (limited to non-functioning headlines, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals)

We are currently unable to assist with payments for traffic tickets and fines.
